Sleep Apnia

Sleep Apnia Can Be Serious and Should Be Checked

(Sleep Apnia)

Many sleep problems and conditions are not deadly and only pose a minor inconvenience. Sleep apnia, however, is not one of the disorders that should be taken lightly. Sleep apnia is a sleeping disorder where your body forgets to breath during the night and it is possible to have a mild case and not even be aware of it.

For those people that have minor conditions of apnia it is usually not a problem and more of an inconvenience. If you have a more serious case though, every night could be your last if you don't take precautions. There are medications you can take as well as paraphernalia you can wear to make sure you breathe throughout the night and for those with serious conditions, they must do this. Most of us don't think twice about being able to get a good night's sleep but for those with apnia, sleeping is a little more difficult.

Some of the symptoms of sleep apnia are waking up tired each morning, being drowsy during the day, having headaches in the morning, and waking up throughout the night and feeling like you are gasping for breath. If you have any one of these, you may suffer from some degree of sleep apnia.

One of the common ways a person figures out that something is wrong is if another person who sleeps in the same room notices that something is not right with the way you sleep. If you sleep alone, you need to pay attention to how you feel when you wake up every morning and whether you are experiencing any of the symptoms over a long period of time. It is always good advice to see your doctor if there is any doubt about the quality of your sleep.

Another option is to see a sleep disorder center and have some tests done. They will be able to analyze your sleep and tell you if there is a problem. Many people seem to brag that they only need a handful of hours sleep every night and although not everyone is the same, getting enough sleep is extremely important for all of us without exception. Getting too little sleep puts stress on your body over time and can be extremely detrimental. Checking with a doctor if you are not sleeping enough is wise so that you can make sure you don't have something serious like sleep apnia.

If you think you might have sleep apnia you should see your doctor. You might also read more about apnia at my website.

Sleep Apnia (Sleep Apnea)

Sleep Apnia - Fatal Consequences (Sleep Apnea)

Ask a person whose partner snores and one shall know how disturbing snoring is for both the person who snores and their partner. Many off the shelf cures are available today that stop snoring at least throughout the night even if these remedies do not cure the person of the problem of snoring completely. Natural cures are even better as they do not cause side effects. Snoring disturbs the sleep patterns and leads to deprivation of sleep and rest to the brain. This makes the person less alert, unable to concentrate and very often emotionally disturbed and cranky, effecting both work and relationships. Thus, snoring should be taken as a serious problem and it should be managed effectively to reduce all the related problems.

A serious sleep disorder, sleep apnia, is on the rise in the recent past. It occurs mainly in adults and is a severe disorder which can even be fatal at times. There are two types of apiea, an obstructive type called 'Obstructive Sleep Apnia' and the other is the 'Central Sleep Apnia'. Central sleep apnia is rarer in people but "Obstructive Sleep Apnia" is more common. Both these factors largely affect the health of the individual and proper treatment has to be taken for it.

The sufferers are very likely to have high blood pressure and related problems very early in life because apnia, causes irregular breathing patterns. This leads to very less oxygen going into the body. It is therefore a leading cause of serious disorders and also causes the onset of innumerable disorders like heart diseases, stroke, and brain aneurysms. The main reason being it leads to the body getting less oxygen than it requires and retaining higher levels of carbon dioxide. Thus, it is also a researched fact that many sufferers of apnea are found as accident victims also. This is mainly because disturbed sleeping patterns leads to lack of concentration and loss of focus and reduces the person's capability to react fast in any situation.

Central sleep apnia is rarer in people because it is caused by health disorders like congenital disorders or vascular disorders which can result as of medications for other illnesses or are common among people living in very high altitudes. This type of sleep apnia is although caused by different factors than Obstructive sleep apnia, but the effects on the health of the person suffering from these are the same.

Moreover, partners of snorers also suffer from sleep deprivation and are therefore, susceptible to all the after effects of snoring problems. Thus, irrespective of the cause of apnia, it is very detrimental to the health of the sufferer and does have a deep effect in the longevity of the patient. Sleep apnia patients should undergo proper treatment and in case required, like for the most severe cases of it, should undergo invasive surgery to put an end to this dangerous and sometimes fatal sleep disorder.
